Objective –> Run DCPromo on the system that was created in part 1.
This is not a recommended way of setting up SharePoint, but due to the hardware limitations on my laptop I have no other choice. Basically, this will be a 1 server setup of SharePoint 2010 beta 2. In the part 1, a machine was setup with Win 2k8 R2 server x64, and Hyper-V enabled. In this post, the objective is to promote the machine to a domain controller.
Click Start –> Run –> Type DCPROMO –> Click Ok

It will scan your machine, and will show a screen as follows. Check the checkbox – Use Advanced mode installation below and click Next.

Click Next.

Select Create a new domain in a new forest, click Next

Type the domain name (I am choosing – dotnetscraps.com) and click Next.

Let the NETBios name be as it is… and click Next

Choose Windows Server 2008 R2 for Forest functional level

Click Next again.

I chose to click Yes for the time being
Choose the locations. (I will leave the defaults) and click Next.

Select a password

Review the Summary, and click Next.

Check Reboot on completion
